Atotal staff of nearly 2000 nurses cares for patients at the three hospitals. They minister in the spirit of Christ's love, providing compassionate, patient-centered nursing care, aimed at addressing the needs of the whole person, while seeking to maintain the highest professional standards. The Nursing Department uses a management by objective program to improve efficiency. Nursing supervisors oversee each specialty area, encouraging the nurses to improve their clinical techniques, as well as developing leadership skills. A Quality Control Committee continually sets standards and evaluates nursing services in order to assure that our patients receive the best possible care. Each inpatient is assigned to a particular nurse who cares for that patient throughout the hospital stay. A Community Health Center provides patient education and discharge planning, home care by visiting nurses, and health education seminars for the general public. The Nursing Department has played a leading role in the establishment of the Hospice Foundation, the Children's Burn Foundation, and the Premature Infants Foundation. Regular continuing nursing education activities are arranged, including seminars given by clinical experts. The Department supports an active program of research in Taiwan and assists outstanding staff nurses to travel overseas for further study.
