Mackay Memorial Hospital is a teach-ing hospital affiliated with the Taipei Medical College and China Medical College and is responsible for the training of interns and residents. In addition, students of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, medical technology, nutrition, and social work from many different schools come to Mackay Hospital for clinical training. Accredited continuing medical and allied health care education programs are provided at all three branches. Current medical research projects focus on molecular biology, neuro-biochemistry, genetics, immunohematology, transfusion medicine, cancer, microbiology, physiology, and reproductive endocrinology. Research facilities include electron microscopy and an animal research lab. The annual budget provides research grants for investigations undertaken at Mackay Hospital, as well as funds allowing qualified staff to study and conduct research abroad.
