主要研究主題：憂鬱症、酒精使用疾病、自殺、失智症、腫瘤心理學等。

研究方向：

• 研究非精神科門診中常見精神疾病：(1)流行病學調查，研究其盛行率、失能、診斷、治療與預後等；(2)針對非精神科診療之常見精神疾病進行介入性研究 「非精神科門診中常見精神疾病的治療模式發展與療效評估」。
• 酒精使用疾病方面：(1)進行社區盛行率等流行病學調查及綜合醫院住院病患之酒精使用疾病進行相關研究；(2)發展早期介入模式並評估次級預防與治療的療效評估。
• 在自殺研究方面：(1)發展自殺危險性的評估工具；(2)研究自殺行為之相關危險因子與保護因子；(3)研究自殺行為之預後追蹤評估；(4)發展自殺行為之介入性療效研究。
• 在失智症方面：(1)發展失智症的診斷工具及照顧者評估之研究；(2)針對失智症家屬之負荷進行失智症居家照顧病人家屬支持的介入模式研究等。

心理與行為科學研究組設立於民國九十一年十月。成立目的是希望結合臨床與研究，並整合精神、心理、社會、人文層面與醫學，以流行病學及實証研究等研究方法，針對各種疾病評估其盛行率、失能、臨床治療介入模式之療效等，以提昇疾病之診斷、治療、復健及預防，促進病患心理社會層面之照護品質，實現身、心、靈全人完整醫治的馬偕精神
