Future Outlook

Today's MacKay Memorial Hospital is not complacent about being a medical center. As a church hospital with a century-old history, MacKay Memorial Hospital is known for its mission and purpose of establishing the hospital. MacKay Hospital will actively play its role as a medical center to provide better medical care:
I. To provide medical services for serious and difficult diseases, in order to become the hospital with the best reputation for service quality:
We are one of the three hospitals in Taipei City that are responsible for providing emergency medical services and are among the top two medical centers in Taiwan in terms of emergency services. The hospital has a patient safety committee and a medical quality management committee to coordinate the hospital-wide quality management plan and patient safety activities, with 12 working groups responsible for continuous quality improvement.
II. To raise the standard of medical care nationwide and promote community medical care, so as to become the most trusted hospital for the disadvantaged groups:
We have established two-way referral cooperation with community medical clusters in Tamshui, Hsinchuang, and Sanchong to establish a holistic and continuous disease treatment and case management model, and to guide the Tamshui community medical cluster to pass the national quality counseling visit index.
Our social commitment to the underprivileged is a strategic goal of the hospital, and we are committed to providing medical services in remote areas, such as medical rounds, health education and medical residency, emergency medical care, and assistance to local governments with inadequate medical resources.
III. To implement medical education and research in holistic care in order to become the benchmark hospital trusted by residents and interns:
Medical education has always been an important goal of the Hospital. In addition to professional education, it covers medical ethics and law, medical communication skills, quality of care, evidence-based medicine, medical record writing, clinical skills testing, and patient rights and privacy.
IV. Innovative research and development to drive the development of medical technology, in order to become a major biomedical research town:
Medical research and innovation are the cornerstones of medical and health technology development. We have set up 20 research groups under different research themes and are the first and only incubation center for medical centers in Taiwan, with many patent applications approved.
V. To fulfill its social responsibility and to cooperate with the health care policy as the medical center that invests the most resources in remote areas:
We are actively involved in medical services in remote areas in the mountainous regions, such as Jianshi in Hsinchu and Ruifang and Jinshan in Taipei County. In terms of participation in the operation of the emergency medical system, we have achieved outstanding results in handling ambulance staff internships, online medical training, and education and training in emergency disaster response and first aid capabilities, and have been designated by the Taipei County Government as the hospital in charge of nuclear disaster education and training, and as a special hospital for disease prevention and control for priority referrals of emerging infectious diseases. VI. To enhance international medical status, participate in international medical activities and provide international medical assistance in line with the core values of innovation and excellence and sustainable development: We have established rules and incentives for participation in international academic activities, further education, and degree programs, and we accept requests from governments and medical institutions in 10 countries, including Kiribati, Fiji, Japan, and Korea, to accept medical personnel of various grades, medical trainees, and short-term intern trainees for clinical training at the hospital. We have dispatched medical missions to Thailand, Kiribati, Fiji and other friendly countries for continuous and regular medical assistance, and have actively participated in short-term emergency medical support for the Maldive floods.
