Breaking barriers with love, achieving excellence

The establishment of MacKay Children's Hospital was perhaps God’s will. It also marked the beginning of a challenging journey. Taiwan has one of the lowest fertility rates in the world, yet, every child, regardless of the circumstance, is a precious gift from God and deserves the best healthcare. MacKay Memorial Hospital takes action to provide high-quality care to patients and families. Through years of effort and experience, MacKay Memorial Hospital has attained a highly esteemed and influential position in the field of pediatric healthcare in Taiwan.
In order to provide children with the most advanced care, each year the Ministry of Health and Welfare allocates a budget of 600 million New Taiwan Dollars to deliver and expand healthcare services to children, with the aim of establishing 2 children's hospitals in the Northern, Central, and Southern regions of Taiwan. As MacKay Memorial Hospital has always been renowned nationwide for its medical services for women and children, we seized this opportunity and established MacKay Children's Hospital in 2014, and received trial approval the following year.
In April 2021, I took over as the superintendent of MacKay Children's Hospital, succeeding Dr. Lee Hong-Chang retirement. With a humble heart, I have assumed this responsibility and accepted the challenges with great effort and determination. Despite the numerous challenges such as the low birth rate, and the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to strive and ensure the highest quality of health care and medical care to continue to serve the community.
During my surgical residency, I had the opportunity to work as a pediatric surgeon and noticed that most children we work with have congenital anomalies. Pediatric surgeons are like God’s assistant, we give our wholehearted effort to perform reconstructive surgery to enhance and reshape structures of the body to improve one’s appearance and restore initial beauty.
At MacKay Children's Hospital, I begin every day with one goal — to restore and create smiles that last a lifetime. MacKay Children's Hospital is dedicated to improving and advancing the health and well-being of children and families. With God’s protection and guidance, our team will continue to uphold our commitment to provide high-quality medical care and embrace love and restorative care to children and families. A child’s smile is worth more than the hard work we pay off.
MacKay Children's Hospital offers an array of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services, including 15 sub-specialties in internal medicine, 6 sub-specialties in surgery, and 5 sub-specialties in other clinical departments. We have achieved remarkable accomplishments in clinical practice, medical training, and education, both domestically and internationally. With that being said, many physicians who were trained under the guidance of MacKay Children's Hospital have internalized the values of MacKay in the field of pediatrics. We will continue to strengthen physicians through education and medical training and to be the leader in improving child health.
Pediatric hospital visits declined sharply with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges of low birth rate posed, yet, this situation also presents an opportunity for self-improvement and re-organization. With our talented pediatric team, we have shown to overcome these challenges and strengthened the ability to deliver effective, and sustainable health care. And with God’s protection and guidance, we continue to provide the highest quality clinical care, medical research, and health education programs to the community of Taiwan.
